Walking the Labyrinth

Grace Cathedral

Walking the Labyrinth

Roses on the path,

Clean shiny stone,

Color splashed across the floor.

All this and more

Make up the journey

Of the labyrinth.

Enter and walk.

Step after step.

Fast.

When

a switchback

causes your

fall off the path,

slow down

Plan for the next.

Feel the resistance

in your heart,

and in your body.

Twists, turns

Moments of ease.

The center is so close

And yet, so far away.

On and on

For what feels

Like a lifetime.

Before you know it

You have arrived

in the center.

A child has grown

A parent has died

And you are

through the path.

Stand and rest

And when you’re ready,

walk back out

The way you came in.

Slowly,

Savoring

Each twist, each turn

This time walking,

Walking the path of wisdom.
